Coral propagation
As can be seen, the colt coral is attached to a piece of crushed coral. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on which way you look at it, I continued on with propagating the colt coral even though I was told I was wasting my time and wouldn’t get it right. J.
The colt was sold to me as a Kenyan tree, which I’m told is quite scarce.
Maybe at some point in time the pet trade will start getting the names right.
So, the moral of the story is that keeping marines is not as difficult as some make it out to be. Kirsty, CJ. Milty etc, come and join the wonderful world of marine keeping and embark on a new journey together with me.
The snail is an Astrea snail and is a must in a marine setup. It feeds on algae and is more efficient than a plecostomus. |

hey kirsty
I only clean my tank when i see the gravel going a slight brown colour.
I then just use that gravel sucker and clean the stone's and top up the tank after im done.
I have had that co2 system going for bout 3 months now and my plants are looking alot better and tend to grow faster and spread out and grow large amounts of leave's.
Perhaps maybe try a d.i.y co2 setup, its cheap for one!
And another thing i've mixed my gravel with small and large gravel, as i did find the plants to struggle growing in the large gravel. |

Siamese fighters
Hi!
Fishfan, we chatted briefly about Siamese fighters on Saturday - I wanted to find out a few things, to make sure that I know what I'm getting myself into...
Siamese fighters seems to be one of those fish that has a reputation for being 'difficult to care for', almost like discus. You hear stories, and it inevitably puts you off.
I have danio's, tetras, ancistus, cory's, clown loaches, angels and moonlight gourami's. You mentioned that a siamese fighter will learn to look after itself, but should I be concerned about any of these tank mates?
Do Siamese fighters have any specific dietary requirements?
Lastly, will you let me know when you get some stock in? (both male and females)
Now that I'm having to get rid of most my angels because of my pair, I need something new and exciting to watch!
Does anyone else out there have any experiential tips on siamese-keeping? |

My plants are struggling too, terribly. At one point, increasing my water changes helped, but it doesn't seem to help anymore.
I've been told by a fellow fish-keeper to change my lights to 6500 kelvin lights, and to look into a fertilizer.
Also, I tend to "overclean" my gravel - I've been told to clean a little less, as the plants need some of the muck for nutrients.
Correct me if I'm wrong... but I'm going to be implementing these changes over the next month, and I'll let you know how it goes. |

Hi all, I spent an hour staring at Fish Fantasy World coral - it is FASCINATING. If I had the time and know-how, I would definitely be scheming up a new marine tank! |

dKh in Marine systems
Hi I want to know if anyone has a table of the various salts ( such as Instant Ocean etc) showing:
A) dKh
B) Ca levels
This is on making "new" mixture using RO water.
Also the make of test kit used to determine the levels.
I would prefer your own readings rather than the manufacturer's readings
Regards
Rod
